Touch-A-Truck

Touch-A-Truck is an exciting, educational, and FREE event for children of all ages. Children may explore the City of Portland's fire trucks and police vehicles during this annual event. The Portland Public Works Department will also have a Caterpillar backhoe loader, John Deer tractor, Bobcat excavator and a Hino dump truck at the event for attendees to explore inside and out. Additionally, attendees will meet and interact with the vehicle and equipment operators during their hands-on experience.
The Bell Whittington Public Library hosts the annual Touch-A-Truck event along with numerous free events throughout each month year-round. For example, Mr. Kippy comes to the Bell Whittington Library (2400 Memorial Pkwy) every Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Kippy provides an interactive experience encouraging children to explore their imaginations and develop early literacy skills.
Another regularly scheduled program at the Bell Whittington Public Library is Toddler Time. Toddler Time takes place on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. Toddler Time offers children opportunities to meet new friends, sing songs and enjoy story time. Additionally, parents are able to meet like-minded adults while helping children build social and literacy skills.
