Portland Animal Care Services provides protection for the health, safety, and welfare of the public within the city limits, by controlling the animal population and establishing uniform rules for the control and eradication of rabies.
This department strives to:
Educate the public about responsible pet care and ownership.
Promote spaying and neutering of pets to aid in reducing the stray animal population.
Work in conjunction with law enforcement to investigate and prosecute animal cruelty cases.
Find responsible forever homes for adoptable stray animals by working with local, state and national animal rescue groups.
Hours of Operation The Animal Care Services Facility is open: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Adoption Hours Monday - Friday 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday - Sunday 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Additional Information All traps are picked up between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.
After-hours: An animal control officer will respond to an emergency such as an animal bite. In the event of an emergency, call 361-777-4444.
